Testing Accessibility Standards Canada's New Portal and Feedback Form

Official title: ASC new user portal and public review feedback form Consultation

Closed Policy & Studies Justice & Rights Technology & Digital
Accessibility Standards Canada tested its new user portal and feedback form with staff and committee members. The goal? Make sure people with disabilities can easily review and comment on draft accessibility standards. Testers flagged barriers and usability issues over three weeks in fall 2025.

Why This Matters

Use a screen reader or other assistive technology? This portal is how you'd comment on new accessibility standards that affect your daily life. If the tools aren't accessible, people with disabilities get shut out of shaping the rules meant to help them.

What Could Change

The portal and feedback form will be updated based on tester feedback. That means fewer barriers when reviewing draft standards. These tools support Canada's goal of becoming barrier-free by 2040 under the Accessible Canada Act.

Key Issues

  • Can users easily access and navigate the new portal?
  • Does the feedback form effectively support reviewing draft standards?
  • What barriers or issues occur when completing key tasks?
  • How can clarity, usability, and accessibility be improved?

What Happened

The consultation ran from September 29 to October 20, 2025. Participants tested the portal and feedback form through guided scenarios, recording successes and flagging issues with comments and screenshots. Accessibility Standards Canada is currently reviewing the feedback and will publish a summary of what they heard soon.
