Should a Roundabout Replace the Snyder's Road and Nafziger Road Intersection in Wilmot?

Official title: Snyder’s Road and Nafziger Road

Closed Community Planning Housing & Communities Transportation
The Region of Waterloo is considering building a roundabout at the intersection of Snyder's Road/Waterloo Street and Nafziger Road in Wilmot Township. Traffic studies suggest a roundabout would be safer and cause fewer delays than traffic lights. The public survey is now closed, but the project is moving toward a Council decision in 2026.

Why This Matters

Drive through this intersection regularly? A roundabout could cut your wait time and reduce crash risks. Live nearby? Construction in 2027 will affect your commute. Even if you don't use this route, this project shows how the Region handles traffic safety decisions.

What Could Change

If approved, a single-lane roundabout would replace the current intersection. Construction is planned for spring/fall 2027, with utility relocations starting earlier that year. The Region will present its recommendation to the Planning and Works Committee in 2026.

Key Issues

  • Should a roundabout or traffic signals be installed at this intersection?
  • How will construction impact nearby residents and commuters?
