Help Shape Fraser Mills Waterfront Parks and Community Centre

Official title: Fraser Mills Amenities

Closed Community Planning Housing & Communities
Coquitlam is planning a major waterfront development at Fraser Mills. The project includes parks, a community centre with a pool, and public art along the Fraser River. Public engagement happened in early 2024, and the city is now moving forward with Phase 1 park design.

Why This Matters

Live in Coquitlam or nearby? This new waterfront neighbourhood will bring parks, a pool, and gathering spaces to the Fraser River. It's a chance to shape what your community looks like for decades to come.

What Could Change

The city will build 4.7 hectares of parkland, restore 2.1 hectares of natural area, and construct a 50,000 sq. ft. community centre. Phase 1 park design is now underway, with construction expected between 2023 and 2033.

Key Issues

  • What amenities should be included in the waterfront parks?
  • How should the community centre and pool be designed?
  • What public art should be featured in the neighbourhood?

What Happened

The city gathered community feedback through a survey and open house in early 2024. Council reviewed the results in April 2025 and directed staff to proceed with final design for Phase 1 park amenities and to begin detailed planning for public art.
