Help Shape Fraser Mills Waterfront Parks and Community Centre

Official title: Fraser Mills Amenities

Closed Community Planning Housing & Communities
Coquitlam is planning a major waterfront neighbourhood at Fraser Mills with parks, a community centre with pool, and public art along the Fraser River. The city gathered public input in early 2024 and has now moved to final design for Phase 1 park amenities. You can still sign up for updates as the project progresses.

Why This Matters

Live in Coquitlam or nearby? This will be your new waterfront destination. The neighbourhood will include 5,500 homes, a 50,000 sq. ft. community centre with a pool, and nearly 12 acres of parkland along the Fraser River. It's a once-in-a-generation chance to shape how your community grows.

What Could Change

Phase 1 park amenities are moving to final design. Public art planning is starting. The full development will eventually include 5,500 residential units, retail space, restored natural areas, and a community centre with pool on the waterfront.

Key Issues

  • What amenities and programming should the waterfront parks include?
  • What public art should be featured in the neighbourhood?
  • How should the community centre and pool serve residents?

What Happened

The City gathered community feedback through a survey and open house in early 2024. On April 14, staff shared results with Council. Based on the feedback, Council directed staff to proceed with final design for Phase 1 park amenities and begin detailed planning for public art.
