Work on a farm or ranch in Alberta? These rules affect your safety protections and employment rights. Farm workers gained new workplace protections they didn't have before. Employers got rules tailored to the realities of agricultural work.
What Could Change
This consultation is complete. The Fair and Family-Friendly Workplaces Act passed in June 2017. New OHS Code provisions specific to farms and ranches took effect. Employment standards and labour relations rules for the agricultural sector changed on January 1, 2018.

What Happened
Six technical working groups submitted recommendations on occupational health and safety, employment standards, and labour relations for the agricultural sector. The Fair and Family-Friendly Workplaces Act was passed in June 2017. New OHS Code provisions and employment standards rules for farms and ranches took effect January 1, 2018.
