Campus Gender-Based Violence Survey for Alberta Post-Secondary Students

Official title: Post-secondary gender-based violence stakeholder engagement

Closed Policy & Studies Education Justice & Rights
Alberta's 26 publicly funded colleges and universities asked students about their experiences with gender-based violence on campus. The survey gathered data on student attitudes, personal experiences, and awareness of support resources. Results will help institutions update their safety policies and prevention strategies.

Why This Matters

Are you a student at an Alberta college or university? This survey shaped how your school handles sexual harassment and assault. The feedback will influence what support services are available and how incidents are reported and addressed.

What Could Change

Post-secondary institutions may update their gender-based violence policies based on survey findings. New awareness campaigns, support services, or reporting mechanisms could be introduced across Alberta campuses. This is part of the Alberta 2030 skills strategy.

Key Issues

  • What are students' attitudes and experiences with gender-based violence on campus?
  • How aware are students of available resources and supports?
  • What strategies would help enhance campus safety?

How to Participate

  1. This consultation has closed. Students were invited to complete a campus climate survey by February 28, 2023.

What Happened

A final report with survey results was expected to be completed in July 2023. Student feedback will help post-secondary institutions better understand their current campus climate and inform new strategies to address gender-based violence and enhance student safety.
