Road Widening at CFB Bagotville - Route 170 and Chemin des Pics Intersection

Official title: Renovation of the intersection of Route 170 and Chemin des Pics - 3 Wing Canadian Forces Base Bagotville

Closed Environmental Assessment Environment & Climate Transportation
The Department of National Defence wants to widen and improve a road intersection at the Bagotville military base in Quebec. Heavy construction traffic from ongoing base projects is straining the current road, creating safety concerns. The work includes clearing trees, widening 175 metres of road to 27 metres, fixing a culvert, and adding a traffic light.

Why This Matters

Live near CFB Bagotville? This project could mean temporary traffic disruptions during construction. The new traffic light and wider road should improve safety for anyone using Route 170 in the area.

What Could Change

About 10 metres of trees on each side of Chemin des Pics will be cleared. The road will nearly triple in width to handle heavy vehicles. A new traffic light will control the intersection. Over 3,200 cubic metres of soil will be excavated and disposed of at authorized sites.

Key Issues

  • Environmental impact of clearing trees along the road
  • Management and disposal of excavated soils
  • Traffic safety during and after construction
