Perimeter Fence Replacement at Bedford Rifle Range
Official title: Improve Perimeter Fence - Canadian Forces Base Halifax
The Department of National Defence wants to replace the damaged perimeter fence at the Bedford Rifle Range in Halifax. The project includes removing the old fence, installing new fencing with gates, clearing vegetation, and building access paths on both sides for maintenance and security patrols. Work is expected to start in Fall 2025.
Why This Matters
Live near the Bedford Rifle Range? This project will involve construction activity and vegetation clearing along the fence line. The new access paths could change how the area looks from the public side.
What Could Change
A new security fence will replace the damaged one, staying within the same footprint. A 1-metre public-side path and 4-metre DND-side path will be built for maintenance access. Some vegetation will be cleared along the fence line.
Key Issues
- Environmental impacts of vegetation clearing along the fence line
- Construction activities and timeline for fence replacement
