Where Should Brentwood's New Pedestrian and Cyclist Overpass Go?

Official title: Brentwood Pedestrian and Cyclist Overpass Feasibility Study

Open Community Planning Housing & Communities Transportation
Burnaby is studying five possible locations for a new overpass to help people walk and bike across the railway in Brentwood. The city wants to know which routes matter most to residents. Your input will help decide where to build and what the design should look like.

Why This Matters

Walk or bike in Brentwood? The railway cuts the neighbourhood in two. A new overpass could make your daily trips to shops, schools, or the SkyTrain safer and faster. Parents with strollers and seniors would benefit too.

What Could Change

One of five locations will be chosen for a new pedestrian and cycling overpass: Madison Avenue, Alaska Street, Willingdon Avenue, Beta Avenue, or Douglas Road. Draft designs will come in late 2026. Construction would follow, creating a permanent new route across the tracks.

Key Issues

  • Which of the five locations would best serve residents' travel needs?
  • What destinations do people need to reach across the railway?
  • What matters most when designing a crossing for all ages and abilities?
