Western Road, Sarnia Road & Philip Aziz Avenue Improvements - London
Official title: Western Road / Sarnia Road / Philip Aziz Avenue Corridor
London is upgrading roads, sidewalks, and cycling lanes along Western Road, Sarnia Road, and Philip Aziz Avenue near Western University. Construction starts spring 2026 with new watermains, protected bike lanes, and safer pedestrian crossings. The project also includes new storm sewers draining to the Thames River.
Why This Matters
Live near Western University or commute through this area? These changes will affect your daily travel for the next two years. Cyclists get new protected lanes. Pedestrians get safer crossings with more time to cross. Drivers should expect construction delays starting spring 2026.
What Could Change
Western Road gets extended turn lanes and new cycling infrastructure on the east side. Philip Aziz Avenue will be completely rebuilt with bike lanes, new sidewalks, and storm sewers. The intersection at Western and Sarnia gets wider crosswalks and restricted right turns on red. Sarnia Road improvements follow in 2027.
