Should Kitchener Build New Walking and Cycling Trails in Rockway?
Official title: Rockway Fairway Transportation Connections
Kitchener wants to connect two major trails through the Rockway neighbourhood. The project would link the Iron Horse Trail to the TransCanada Trail on Wilson Avenue. It's designed for people of all ages and abilities. Construction on Floral Crescent is expected in 2026, with Wilson Avenue work starting after 2027.
Why This Matters
Live in Rockway or nearby? This could change how you get around. New trails mean safer routes to transit, schools, and downtown. If you bike, walk, or use a mobility device, this is designed with you in mind. Over 3,000 residents already said this corridor was a priority.
What Could Change
Floral Crescent would get new walking and cycling infrastructure in 2026. Wilson Avenue improvements would follow after 2027. The city would fill gaps in its trail network, creating a continuous route from the Iron Horse Trail to the TransCanada Trail.
