Sewage System Expansion for A.W. Campbell Conservation Area Trailer Park

Official title: St. Clair Region Conservation Authority - Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage)

Open Regulations & Permits Environment & Climate Housing & Communities
The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority wants to upgrade the septic system at their trailer park campground. The current system can't handle 146 seasonal trailer sites, so they're proposing two new raised absorption trench systems. The north section would handle about 9,500 litres of sewage daily, while the south section would process nearly 36,000 litres.

Why This Matters

Camp at A.W. Campbell Conservation Area? This upgrade means better sewage handling for the trailer park. Live nearby? Properly designed septic systems protect local groundwater. If you use a private well in the Brooke-Alvinston area, you might want to weigh in.

What Could Change

If approved, the conservation authority can install two large septic tanks (19,000 and 71,800 litres) plus raised absorption beds. The 112 trailer lots would connect to a new gravity sewage system. This replaces the existing undersized septic system.

Key Issues

  • Is the proposed sewage system adequate for 146 trailer sites?
  • Will the raised absorption trenches protect local groundwater?
