Rosel Park Upgrades - Old South Neighbourhood

Official title: Rosel Park

Closed Community Planning Housing & Communities
London decided to add a small playground to Rosel Park after extensive community input. The final design includes tree plantings, three accessible benches, a playground, two picnic tables, and a walkway. About 40% of the park stays as open green space. Construction starts in 2026.

Why This Matters

Live in the Old South neighbourhood? This park is within a 10-minute walk for many residents. The area is currently underserved for parkland. If you have kids, there'll be a new playground. If you prefer quiet green space, about 40% stays open.

What Could Change

A small playground, three accessible benches, two picnic tables, and a concrete walkway will be added to the north end of Rosel Park. New trees will be planted. The southern portion stays as open grass. Construction is expected in 2026.

Key Issues

  • Should the park include play equipment or remain trees and open space only?
  • How much of the existing open green space should be preserved?

How to Participate

  1. The feedback period has closed. Review the final design concept and the 2025 design options to see what was decided.

What Happened

After two rounds of engagement in 2024 and 2025, the City decided to proceed with Option 2 - a small playground. Initial 2024 results showed 60% preferred play equipment. In 2025, initial survey results showed 76% preferred trees only, but after a news article generated 300+ additional responses supporting amenities, the final tally showed 77% supported adding play equipment. The final design includes tree plantings, 3 accessible benches, a small playground, 2 picnic tables, and a concrete walkway, while preserving about 40% as open green space.
