New Official Plan for Gorham, Ware Townships and Dawson Road Lots

Official title: Lakehead Rural Planning Board - Approval of a municipality’s official plan

Open Community Planning Housing & Communities
The Lakehead Rural Planning Board has adopted a new official plan for unincorporated townships near Thunder Bay. The plan guides land use and development in Gorham, Ware, and the Dawson Road Lots. It would replace the existing 2013 plan. The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing will make the final decision.

Why This Matters

Own property in Gorham, Ware, or the Dawson Road Lots? This plan determines what you can build and how land around you can be used. Thinking of buying land in the area? The new rules could affect property values and development potential.

What Could Change

If approved, the new official plan replaces 2013 rules for these unincorporated areas. Zoning and permitted uses could change. The Minister's decision is final with no appeal allowed.

Key Issues

  • Does the new plan align with provincial planning policies?
  • Are the proposed land use designations appropriate for the area?
  • Does the plan adequately address local development needs?
