Longwood Drive Reconstruction - Waterloo Infrastructure Upgrade
Official title: Longwood Drive Reconstruction Project
The City of Waterloo plans to completely rebuild Longwood Drive, replacing aging watermains, sewers, sidewalks, curbs, and asphalt. Water and sanitary pipes will also be replaced up to property lines. Construction is expected to start in April 2027 and finish by late fall 2027.
Why This Matters
Live on Longwood Drive? Your street will be torn up for months. Expect detours, noise, and limited driveway access during construction. The upside? New pipes mean fewer water main breaks and better drainage for years to come.
What Could Change
The entire road structure will be replaced, including underground infrastructure. Residents will get new water and sanitary connections up to their property line at no direct cost. Two public information meetings are planned before construction begins.
Key Issues
- Timeline and phasing of construction work
