Highbury Avenue North Road Reconstruction - London
Official title: Highbury Watermain
London is rebuilding a stretch of Highbury Avenue North from the Thames River bridge to Kilally Road. The project replaces aging watermains, adds new sidewalks and cycle tracks, and upgrades traffic signals. Construction is planned for 2026 and will take about 6 months.
Why This Matters
Live on or near Highbury Avenue North? Expect road closures, detours, and construction noise for about 6 months. Some trees will be removed. The upside: new sidewalks, better cycling infrastructure, and more reliable water service.
What Could Change
The road will get a complete rebuild with new asphalt and underground pipes. A new sidewalk and cycle track will be added on the east side. Traffic signals at Kilally Road will be upgraded. Street lighting will be replaced throughout.
Key Issues
- What are the impacts of construction on local properties?
- Which trees need to be removed for the project?
