Help Shape Toronto's 2026 City Budget

Official title: Participate in the 2026 Budget process

Closed Budget Finance & Consumer Housing & Communities
Toronto is deciding how to spend your tax dollars in 2026. The city wants to hear what services matter most to you—transit, housing, parks, or something else. You can join phone town halls, speak at committee meetings, or submit written comments before the budget goes to Council in February.

Why This Matters

This budget decides what Toronto spends on next year. Want better transit? More affordable housing? Cleaner parks? This is your chance to tell the Mayor and Council directly. Property taxes, city services, and local programs all get decided here.

What Could Change

City Council will vote on the 2026 Budget on February 10. Your input could influence spending on transit, housing, parks, and city services. Property tax rates and user fees may also be affected by the final budget decisions.

Key Issues

  • What city services and programs should be prioritized in the 2026 budget?
  • How should Toronto balance spending with property tax levels?

How to Participate

  1. Join a telephone town hall with Mayor Olivia Chow and Budget Committee Chair Shelley Carroll on January 14 or 15 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Call 1-833-380-0687 toll-free or join online.
  2. Speak to the Budget Committee virtually or in person on January 20 or 21. Register by 4:30 p.m. on January 19.
  3. Submit written comments by email to buc@toronto.ca to be included in the public record.
