Help Shape the Future of St. John's Rennie's River Neighbourhood

Official title: Rennie's River Neighbourhood Plan

Closed Community Planning Housing & Communities Transportation
St. John's is creating a neighbourhood plan for the Rennie's River area. The city wants to know what residents love about the neighbourhood and what could be improved. This plan will guide decisions about housing, green spaces, walking paths, and local character for years to come.

Why This Matters

Live in or near Rennie's River? This plan will shape what gets built in your neighbourhood. Worried about losing mature trees and heritage homes to new development? Want better bike paths and bus routes? Now's your chance to weigh in before decisions are made.

What Could Change

The neighbourhood plan will set rules for building heights, housing density, and land use. It could allow more housing types or protect the current character. New walking and cycling paths may be added. Flood mitigation along Rennie's River could become a priority.

Key Issues

  • Should housing density be increased or should the current neighbourhood character be preserved?
  • How can walking, cycling, and transit connections be improved?
  • How should flood risks along Rennie's River be addressed before new development?
  • How can heritage homes, mature trees, and green spaces be protected?

How to Participate

  1. Read the Phase 1 What We Heard Report to see what residents have already shared.
  2. Share your story on the consultation page to tell the city what you love about the neighbourhood or what you'd like to see change.
