Help Shape Newfoundland and Labrador's Active Living Action Plan
Official title: Active Living Action Plan
Newfoundland and Labrador wants to become one of Canada's healthiest provinces by 2031. The government is developing an Active Living Action Plan to guide sport, physical activity, and recreation policies. They're asking residents, community groups, and Indigenous organizations what should be included.
Why This Matters
Want more trails, rinks, or community programs where you live? This plan will shape what gets funded. If you've ever wished your town had better recreation options, now's your chance to say so. Parents, seniors, and anyone who cares about staying active should weigh in.
What Could Change
New provincial policies could prioritize funding for community recreation facilities, youth sports programs, and active transportation infrastructure. The plan may set targets for reducing sedentary lifestyles and create coordinated programs across health, education, and recreation departments.
Key Issues
- What sport, physical activity, and recreation programs should the province prioritize?
- How can the province help residents become more physically active?
- What barriers prevent people from participating in recreation and sport?
