Help Shape London's Thames River Paddling Plan

Official title: Paddling Plan

Open Community Planning Environment & Climate Transportation
London wants your input on improving paddling access along the Thames River. The draft plan proposes better boat launches, signage with QR codes, and accessible shore access points at several parks. Phase 1 upgrades at seven locations are already done. Phase 2 will add fully accessible launches at places like Harris Park and Windermere Fields.

Why This Matters

Love kayaking or canoeing? This plan affects where you can launch on the Thames. It also addresses accessibility—if you use a wheelchair or have mobility challenges, new accessible launches could open up the river for you. Live near the Thames? Better signage and invasive species management could improve your local park.

What Could Change

New fully accessible boat launches will be built at Windermere Fields, Pottersburg Dog Park, and Harris Park by 2025. The city will install more signage with QR codes linking to paddling information. Invasive species management and hazard removal along all three river branches will continue.

Key Issues

  • Where should new accessible paddling access points be located?
  • How can signage and mapping be improved for paddlers?
  • What amenities are needed at river access points?

How to Participate

  1. Review the draft Paddling Plan to understand the proposed improvements and access locations.
  2. Check the Thames River Shore Access Map to see current and planned access points.
