Help Shape Kitchener's Digital Future

Official title: Digital Kitchener Strategy Review

Closed Policy & Studies Housing & Communities Technology & Digital
Kitchener is updating its 2017 Digital Strategy and wants to know what's working and what needs improvement. The city uses technology to improve internet access, support innovation, and offer better online services. Your feedback will help shape how the city uses tech to serve residents in the years ahead.

Why This Matters

Live in Kitchener? This affects how you interact with city services online. Whether you're paying a parking ticket, reporting a pothole, or checking transit schedules, this strategy shapes those digital tools. It also influences who gets left behind when services go digital.

What Could Change

The updated strategy will guide how Kitchener invests in technology over the coming years. This could mean better online services, improved internet access in underserved areas, or new smart city features like the LED streetlight network already installed. The city wants to ensure digital services remain inclusive.

Key Issues

  • What's working well with the city's current digital services?
  • What needs to be improved in how the city uses technology?
  • How can technology better support everyone in the city, including those at risk of being left behind?

What Happened

The city completed three stages of engagement: an initial survey with residents and the tech community, in-person sessions with staff and community groups, and a follow-up survey. A draft strategy is now in development based on what was heard.
