Help Shape Canada's Green Procurement Database
Official title: Domestic Assessment of Product Category Filters for the Green Public Procurement Tool (GPPT)
The federal government is building a searchable database to help buyers find eco-friendly products. They want input on which environmental certifications and standards should be included. The tool will cover 20+ product categories—from office furniture to HVAC systems.
Why This Matters
Sell products to the government? This database could make or break your sales. If your eco-certifications aren't included, you might lose out on federal contracts. Even if you don't sell to government, the standards they set often ripple through the market.
What Could Change
A new Green Public Procurement Tool will list products that meet environmental standards. Federal buyers will use it to find eco-friendly options. Products without recognized certifications may be harder to sell to government departments.
Key Issues
- Which eco-labels and certifications should be recognized in the database?
- What environmental criteria should apply to each product category?
- Which third-party data sources should verify product claims?
How to Participate

- Register for the virtual information session on February 4th to see a demonstration of the tool.
