Help Shape Cambridge's Housing Future to 2051

Official title: Housing Needs Assessment

Closed Community Planning Housing & Communities
Cambridge is figuring out what housing it needs over the next 25 years. The city wants to know where the gaps are—affordable units, family homes, seniors housing—and how to fill them. Your input will shape the city's Official Plan and housing strategy through 2051.

Why This Matters

Looking for a place to live in Cambridge? Struggling with rent? This assessment will shape what gets built and where. Whether you're a renter, homeowner, or hoping to buy someday, the decisions made here affect your housing options for decades.

What Could Change

The city's Official Plan could be updated to require more affordable housing in new developments. Zoning changes might allow more housing types in different neighbourhoods. The final strategy goes to Council for approval in February 2025.

Key Issues

  • What types of housing are missing in Cambridge?
  • How can the city address affordable housing gaps?
  • Where should new housing be built to meet demand through 2051?
