Help Shape Burnaby's 25-Year Parks, Recreation and Culture Plan

Official title: Making Life Better: Parks, Recreation and Culture Plan

Planned Community Planning Health & Safety Housing & Communities
Burnaby is creating its first parks, recreation and culture plan since 1984. The city wants to know what facilities, programs and services matter most to residents. Round one of engagement is complete, with round two planned for early 2026.

Why This Matters

Use a local park? Take your kids to rec programs? Enjoy community events? This plan will shape all of that for the next 25 years. It's your chance to say what Burnaby should prioritize—more trails, better pools, cultural spaces, or something else entirely.

What Could Change

The plan will guide which facilities get built or upgraded, where new parks are located, and how programs are designed. It could mean new community centres, expanded trails, or different programming to match the city's growing diversity.

Key Issues

  • What parks, recreation and cultural facilities does Burnaby need?
  • How can services be more inclusive and accessible?
  • What programs support resident health and well-being?

How to Participate

  1. Review the What We Heard Report from round one to see what residents have said so far.
  2. Check back on this consultation page in early 2026 for round two engagement opportunities.
