Help Shape Accessibility Standards Canada's Next Accessibility Plan

Official title: Accessibility Standards Canada: 2026 to 2028 Accessibility Plan

Closed Policy & Studies Justice & Rights
Accessibility Standards Canada asked people who work with them—employees, board members, technical committee members, and research grant recipients—about barriers they've faced. The feedback will shape the organization's 2026-2028 Accessibility Plan. This was a targeted consultation, not open to the general public.

Why This Matters

This consultation was limited to people who already work with Accessibility Standards Canada. But the resulting plan affects how the federal government develops accessibility standards for all of Canada. If you have a disability and interact with federal services, these standards shape your experience.

What Could Change

The new 2026-2028 Accessibility Plan will set priorities for removing barriers in employment, built environment, communications, and technology. It guides how federal organizations must become more accessible under the Accessible Canada Act.

Key Issues

  • What barriers to accessibility do people experience when interacting with Accessibility Standards Canada?
  • How well is the organization implementing its current Accessibility Plan?

How to Participate

  1. This consultation is now closed. It ran from June 9 to 23, 2025 and was limited to employees, board members, technical committee members, and research grant recipients.
  2. You can still provide feedback anytime using the Accessibility feedback form.

What Happened

The consultation ran from June 9 to 23, 2025. A total of 286 people were invited to participate via email survey. Results are being analyzed and a 'What we heard' report will be included in the upcoming 2026-2028 Accessibility Plan, to be published by December 31, 2025.
