Help Shape Edmonton's Climate Action Plan (2027-2030)
Official title: Climate Action Plan Update (2027-2030)
Edmonton is updating its climate action plan for 2027-2030 and wants your input on draft ideas. The city faces rising temperatures, more flooding, and extreme weather. Your feedback will help decide which climate actions get prioritized and funded.
Why This Matters
Live in Edmonton? Climate change could cost the city $1 billion annually by the 2040s. That means higher taxes, damaged infrastructure, and more extreme weather affecting your daily life. This plan shapes how the city spends money on everything from flood protection to energy efficiency programs for your home.
What Could Change
The final plan goes to City Council in mid-2026. Actions could include new building requirements, expanded transit, flood protection upgrades, and home energy rebate programs. Some actions may require additional funding beyond the current budget, which Council would need to approve.
