Elizabeth Street and Lyle Street Infrastructure Renewal in Downtown London
Official title: Elizabeth Street and Lyle Street Infrastructure Renewal Project
The City of London is rebuilding Elizabeth Street and Lyle Street to replace aging water pipes, sewers, and road surfaces. Work on Elizabeth Street is underway with a full closure until summer 2026. Lyle Street construction finished in 2023, with final paving happening in 2024.
Why This Matters
Live or work near Elizabeth Street or Lyle Street? You'll deal with road closures and detours until summer 2026. Parking access will be affected during construction. Once done, you'll get new roads, sidewalks, and updated water infrastructure.
What Could Change
Elizabeth Street will be fully closed between Queens Avenue and King Street until summer 2026. On-street parking on Lyle Street will be reconfigured with 10 spaces moved to new parking bays. Private and municipal parking lot access will be rerouted during construction.
Key Issues
- How will parking and loading access be maintained during construction?
- What are the impacts on trees and heritage buildings in the area?
- How will the streetscape be improved after reconstruction?
