Help Design Safer Streets in Halifax's North End
Official title: North End Complete Streets Phase 2
Halifax is redesigning 4.8 km of streets in the North End to make them safer for walking, biking, and transit. The project covers Maynard, Creighton, Northwood, Fuller, Charles, Nora Bernard, Cunard and North streets. You can drop pins on a map to share where you feel safe, where you don't, and what improvements you'd like to see.
Why This Matters
Walk, bike, or take the bus in Halifax's North End? This project will reshape how you get around. Live near these streets? Construction will affect your neighbourhood through 2028. The city wants to hear from residents, not just traffic engineers.
What Could Change
New bike lanes, wider sidewalks, and better crosswalks could appear on eight streets. Public plazas and rain gardens may be added. The designs will guide construction that continues through 2028.
Key Issues
- Where do people feel unsafe walking or biking in the North End?
- What street improvements would residents like to see?
- How can new designs respect the area's history and cultural identity?
- Where should placemaking features like plazas or murals be located?
