Designating New French Language Service Providers in Ontario

Official title: Designation of Public Service agencies, December 2025

Closed Regulations & Permits Health & Safety Justice & Rights
Ontario is formally recognizing two healthcare facilities as official French-language service providers: Centre d'Accueil Champlain and Pembroke Regional Hospital. The province is also updating the names of ten other designated agencies to reflect organizational changes. This is a routine administrative update—agencies request designation voluntarily to better serve Francophone communities.

Why This Matters

If you're a Franco-Ontarian seeking healthcare or social services, this matters. Designated agencies must provide services in French. Two more healthcare facilities will now be officially recognized as French-language providers.

What Could Change

Centre d'Accueil Champlain and Pembroke Regional Hospital will be added to the official list of French-language service providers. Ten existing agencies will have their names updated in the regulation. No new funding or obligations are involved—this formalizes existing services.

Key Issues

  • Should Centre d'Accueil Champlain and Pembroke Regional Hospital be designated as French-language service providers?
  • Are the proposed name updates for the ten existing agencies accurate?
