Road Upgrades for Red Earth Cree Nation Reserves

Official title: Red Earth Road Assessment and Upgrades

Closed Environmental Assessment Indigenous & Northern Transportation
Red Earth Cree Nation wants to upgrade residential roads on two reserves in Saskatchewan. The project covers Red Earth #29 (Natacam) and Carrot River #29A, about 2 km apart. Work includes fixing roads, improving drainage, replacing culverts, and adding gravel surfacing.

Why This Matters

Live on Red Earth Cree Nation land? These upgrades could mean better roads, less flooding, and safer driving conditions in your neighbourhood. Construction may cause temporary disruptions.

What Could Change

Residential roads in both reserve communities would be excavated and resurfaced with aggregate. Existing culverts would be replaced. Ditches would be regraded for better drainage and reseeded.

Key Issues

  • What environmental impacts will road construction have on the land?
  • How will drainage improvements affect water flow in the area?
