Brevoort Park South Flood Control Redesign

Official title: Brevoort Park South Redesign

Closed Community Planning Environment & Climate Housing & Communities
Saskatoon is installing underground storm water storage tanks beneath Brevoort Park South to reduce flooding near Early Drive and Tucker Crescent. The area has flooded badly during major storms—photos from June 2022 show just how serious it gets. The park is currently closed while new landscaping establishes, expected to reopen in Fall 2026.

Why This Matters

Live near Early Drive and Tucker Crescent? You've probably seen water pooling on streets during heavy rain—or worse, in basements. This project aims to stop that. The park will be closed until Fall 2026, so if your kids play there, you'll need to find alternatives for a while.

What Could Change

The new underground tanks will store about 9,000 cubic metres of storm water—enough to significantly reduce street flooding during 1-in-10-year storms. About 6 trees will be removed, though the City will compensate according to its tree policy. The $10.3 million project is 40% federally funded.

Key Issues

  • How will the park be restored after construction?
  • What are residents' preferences for the park design?
  • How will tree removal be handled and compensated?

Underground storage construction occurred from May to November 2024, and landscape construction is now complete. The park remains closed for establishment and is expected to reopen in Fall 2026.
