Tower Antenna Upgrade and Fibre Installation for Bearspaw First Nation
Official title: Upgrade Single Tower & New Fibre Installation
Bearspaw First Nation wants to add a small antenna to an existing tower on Stoney 142B reserve to improve high-speed internet access. They also plan to install 31.5 km of underground fibre optic cable to connect all homes on Kehewin 123 reserve to the internet.
Why This Matters
Live on Stoney 142B or Kehewin 123 reserves? This project could bring high-speed internet to your home. Better connectivity means easier access to online services, education, and remote work opportunities.
What Could Change
If approved, a 0.779m antenna would be added to the existing 45.7m tower. Underground fibre cables would be installed along existing roads using drilling or trenching. Future antenna additions to the tower may also be permitted.
Key Issues
- Should the antenna addition to the existing tower be approved?
- Are there concerns about the underground fibre installation methods?
