Should PTH 3 Be Twinned Between Winnipeg and PTH 100?

Official title: PTH 3 - Functional Design Study

Closed Community Planning Transportation
Manitoba wants feedback on plans to twin Provincial Trunk Highway 3, the road connecting south Winnipeg to PTH 100. Traffic has been growing due to commercial and industrial development along this corridor. The province has developed a preferred design after public meetings in 2023 and a survey in early 2024.

Why This Matters

Drive on McGillivray Boulevard or PTH 3 south of Winnipeg? This project could ease your commute. The road is getting busier as more businesses move into the area. Twinning would add lanes and new traffic signals at key intersections.

What Could Change

PTH 3 between Brady Road and PTH 100 would be expanded from two lanes to four. New signalized intersections would be added. An access management plan would control how businesses and side roads connect to the highway.

Key Issues

  • Is the preferred road alignment and design appropriate for the corridor?
  • Where should signalized intersections be located?
  • How should access to businesses and side roads be managed?

How to Participate

  1. Review the PTH 3 Functional Design Study presentation on the consultation page to understand the preferred design.
  2. Complete the Phase 3 survey to share your feedback on the proposed design.

What Happened

A "What We Heard" report has been published summarizing feedback from public open house meetings in May and November 2023 and an EngageMB survey in February 2024. Based on technical evaluation and public response, a preferred design has been developed for the twinning of PTH 3.
