Road Upgrades for Michipicoten First Nation - 7km Rehabilitation Project
Official title: Michipicoten First Nation Roads Rehabilitation Project
Indigenous Services Canada is upgrading about 7 kilometres of roads in Michipicoten First Nation. The work includes resurfacing, widening sections, replacing culverts, and improving drainage. Construction runs from fall 2025 through fall 2026.
Why This Matters
Live in or near Michipicoten First Nation? These road improvements could mean safer driving, better drainage during storms, and less dust. Construction may cause temporary detours over the next year.
What Could Change
About 7 km of community and access roads will be resurfaced and widened. Twelve culverts will be replaced or installed. Sightlines and signage will be improved for safety.
Key Issues
- What environmental impacts might the road construction have?
- How will utility relocations affect community services?
