Help Design the Highland Park Basketball Court Upgrade

Official title: Highland Park Basketball Court Upgrades

Closed Community Planning Housing & Communities
Halifax is upgrading the basketball court at Highland Park Junior High School thanks to a grant from MLSE and Giants of Africa. The community gets to help choose the colours, symbols, and potentially the name of the new court. This upgrade recognizes the African Nova Scotian community in Halifax's North End.

Why This Matters

Live in Halifax's North End? Play basketball at Highland Park? This is your chance to shape what the upgraded court looks like. The design will celebrate African Nova Scotian heritage in the community.

What Could Change

The basketball court will become regulation size with a painted acrylic surface, new backboards, bleachers, and fencing. Lights may be added. The court's colours, symbols, and name will reflect community input about African Nova Scotian culture.

Key Issues

  • What colours should the upgraded basketball court feature?
  • What symbols should represent the African Nova Scotian community on the court?
  • What should the court be named?

How to Participate

  1. Complete the public survey to share your ideas on colours, symbols, and naming for the court.
