New Accessible Marina Facility - C.A.M.P.S. Phase 2
Official title: Construction of a new inclusive, accessible and environmentally friendly marina facility.
A non-profit society wants to build an accessible marina facility with gender-neutral washrooms, lockers, and seating areas. The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency is considering funding Phase 2, which includes a 126 square meter building and gravel parking lot. Transport Canada already assessed the overall project in 2023.
Why This Matters
If you use a wheelchair or have mobility challenges, accessible waterfront facilities are rare. This marina aims to make boating and waterfront recreation available to everyone. It could also boost year-round tourism in the area.
What Could Change
ACOA may approve federal funding for the building construction. The new facility would add accessible amenities to the existing waterfront. Future phases could expand the building further.
Key Issues
- Should ACOA provide financial support for this accessible marina project?
- Are there environmental concerns with the proposed construction?
